{"id":507,"date":"2012-12-09T23:34:27","date_gmt":"2012-12-09T22:34:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/majek.mamy.to\/?p=507"},"modified":"2013-06-10T01:20:59","modified_gmt":"2013-06-09T23:20:59","slug":"tricopter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/majek.sh\/en\/tricopter\/","title":{"rendered":"Tricopter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On one happy day Santa Claus came into my home and brought me some parts to make the Tricopter \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Since I saw detailed build log of <a href=\"http:\/\/rcexplorer.se\/projects\/2011\/09\/the-tricopter-v2-5\/\" target=\"_blank\">David&#8217;s Tricopter<\/a> I started to think about having one:-) Not about quadcopter, hexacopter of other kind of -copter, but it had to be folding tricopter. Meantime I collected few useful small and handy parts, so only most impotant (and costly) parts left to buy. And now arrived: motors, ESCs, props and servos (but in buget version).<\/p>\n<p>So, let&#8217;s start building \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update 2013.06.10<\/strong>: I made some errors and bad decisions during this build, please read <a href=\"https:\/\/majek.sh\/en\/tricopter-part-1-5\/\" title=\"Tricopter part 1.5 :-)\">short summary<\/a> before you follow this build log.<\/p>\n<h2>Tail servo<\/h2>\n<p>At the beginning look at my new servo: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hobbyking.com\/hobbyking\/store\/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=23486&#038;aff=78124\" target=\"_blank\">HK15148B Digital Servo<\/a>.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/majek.sh\/tricopter\/serwo1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-502\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/serwo1-640x460.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"HK15148B Digital Servo\" width=\"640\" height=\"460\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-502\" srcset=\"https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/serwo1-640x460.jpg 640w, https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/serwo1-150x107.jpg 150w, https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/serwo1.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nI hope that it&#8217;s not too weak, because David used stronger one.<\/p>\n<p>Looks nice, but if you looked at Rcexplorer&#8217;s build log, you should notice that this servo should lay on it&#8217;s left side. Of course before glueing I sanded both adjoining surfaces. Trick with screw is for centering both pieces.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/majek.sh\/?attachment_id=524\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/yaw2-615x480.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Glue servo&#039;s arm to other part for cradle\" width=\"615\" height=\"480\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-524\" srcset=\"https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/yaw2-615x480.jpg 615w, https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/yaw2-150x117.jpg 150w, https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/yaw2.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After epoxy cured, I drilled 1.5mm holes for small screws (probably I have it from other HXT micro servos). Next, I increased holes only in arm part to 2mm (by drilling \ud83d\ude42 ).<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/majek.sh\/?attachment_id=525\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/yaw3-637x480.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Drilling holes for screws\" width=\"637\" height=\"480\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/yaw3-637x480.jpg 637w, https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/yaw3-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/yaw3.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 637px) 100vw, 637px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next step was to cut excessive parts and one part of sway mechanism is ready:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/majek.sh\/?attachment_id=526\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/yaw4-488x480.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Servo part of motor cradle done.\" width=\"488\" height=\"480\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-526\" srcset=\"https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/yaw4-488x480.jpg 488w, https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/yaw4-150x147.jpg 150w, https:\/\/majek.sh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/yaw4.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 488px) 100vw, 488px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I decided to make this part a little other way than in original Tri because I didn&#8217;t have 4mm carbon fiber rod. Hole in part of wheel mount is about 3.95mm, so I drilled it once again using stock 4mm drill (only part connected with servo arm!), so screw inside this part will be a little more loose. I found im my stuff only plates coated with copper (to make printed circuit boards), so I used them. I used blue one: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hobbyking.com\/hobbyking\/store\/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=11409&#038;aff=78124\" target=\"_blank\">HK-171 Thread Locker (blue)<\/a>. While I was trying to mount a motor, it occured that there is not enough room for two mounting zip-ties. But I use another motors, so mounting is also different and I couldn&#8217;t predict it. I bought <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hobbyking.com\/hobbyking\/store\/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=8622&#038;aff=78124\" target=\"_blank\">2213N 800Kv brushless motors<\/a> for this tricopter.
